Business Professionals of America, or BPA, is a club available at many high schools for students who are interested in business. It offers a variety of competitions related to different areas of business, which includes finance, management, IT and video production. Students who are interested in learning about business or want to compete should consider joining BPA.
In order to join BPA, students must talk to Mrs. Cortez or Mrs. Ling. Once in the club, students can choose from different events or competitions. In the beginning, students compete at regionals, and if students do really well, they can move up to state, and finally Nationals. State is being held in Dallas this year. It is also a great way to meet new people and learn useful skills.
One of the events in BPA is Video Production. For this event, students must work together in order to create a video about trade careers and submit it to the competition. If the team’s video gets a high enough score, they move on to compete at State. This year, the State Competition will take place Thursday, March 5-Sunday, March 8. On the state stage, students can compete and show their skills and expertise.
BPA is not just competing and winning. Even participating can look good on a college application, and students who are able to reach Nationals can potentially receive scholarships.
For students who are looking for a club, BPA is worth considering, since it offers real experience, a chance to travel and useful skills that could help in the future.
