About Us

The Cat’s Eye Online is a publication from students at Aledo High School. Our goal is to tell the stories within Aledo High School and give information to our students and community.

The Cat’s Eye online newspaper is student-run and operated by Aledo Student Media students with assistance from adviser Emily Pyeatt Arnold. 

Cheryl Posey, former Aledo journalism teacher and publications adviser, along with newspaper students, launched The Cat’s Eye online in 2017.

POLICIES

General  The Cat’s Eye Online is a publication of Aledo High School News Production I, II, III students who meet during first period. The opinions expressed in this publication are those of individual staff members and don’t necessarily represent the opinions or ideas of the entire news production staff, the student body as a whole, the AHS administration or administration of Aledo Independent School District.

Complaints | Corrections  Any complaint, correction or letter to the editor should be formally submitted via email. Per Aledo Student Media Policy – all corrections will run immediately.

Online Pull Down

  • Only the writer/photographer, editors, adviser or principal has the right to remove a story from the online edition.
  • Stories will only be pulled for factual errors or violations of this policy.
  • A letter of “request of removal” for a story can be submitted to the adviser.

Comments  All submitted comments must be approved by the editors of the publication. Comments must be professional and contain the writer’s email address upon submission. Comments will be deleted or edited for inappropriate language, attacks on any individuals or comments that could disrupt the academic school day. We reserve the right to not post any comment for any reason. Comments do not necessarily reflect the opinions of our staff, adviser or administration.

Policy  The Cat’s Eye Online (ahscatseye.com) has a firm commitment to privacy. We take your privacy concerns seriously and want to make every effort to address them as we strive to offer our site visitors a high quality, interactive and personalized experience. Did you know you have a typo in a story?Yes, we put them there just for you to complain about. Thank you for reading our publication! Seriously though, we are human and do make mistakes. We will do our best to correct our errors in a timely manner.

Does Mrs. Tims read content on this site? Mrs. Tims has a great working relationship with us. We’ll gladly run anything controversial by her. 

Why isn’t my comment on a page? It may not have been approved or you may have broken one of our rules (see above). The most common reason is you didn’t leave your name and email. Please be kind enough to tell us who you are.

Do you really need to interrupt class for interviews?Unless you want a bunch of journalism kids with your cell phone number, yes. Really, how else are we going to get great stories about our student body? 

What happened to the print edition?Our department is small right now. The online paper is cheaper, cooler and can be updated at any time. While we love a print paper like you do, times are changing.
