After months of preparation for their upcoming production, theatre students will perform the Little Mermaid this weekend for the community’s enjoyment.
Junior Madison Estevez shared her excitement about getting to play Ariel.
“I always have loved the story since I was a little kid,” Estevez said. “My favorite [song] is probably ‘Part of Your World’ just because it was one of my favorite songs as a little kid.”
Everything has been coming together during tech week, and senior backstage manager Cora Nunn discussed stress and hard work that has gone into the performance.
“This is my senior musical, so we got to make the most of it,” Nunn said. “The props have been so fun to make, and the music is so good, and it’s something that everybody knows. I know everybody’s going to enjoy it.”
The best part of any show for most theatre kids is the people, and sophomore ensemble member Benicio Paredes said he will miss the seniors.
“It’s gonna suck without them next year,” Paredes said. “The music is gonna be great next year, but you know, we’re going to miss them.”
With the show date approaching, the pressure has been building up throughout the cast and crew.
“Everyone is going nuts cause like, oh my gosh, we’re about to perform. It’s like, going to happen,” Paredes said. “So yeah, that pressure is definitely the most stressful part.”
Tickets are $11 on MySchoolBucks or at the door with a card. Shows are Friday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.
“We’ve worked really hard on this show,” Parades said. “And it means the world to us that you’re there.”
