On Saturday, Sept. 24, the band competed in Mansfield Preview of Champions. They won first in their class with captions in music, percussion, color guard and visual. They also won first overall in finals with captions in music and percussion.

“This made the band excited to continue learning the show, but we still knew that we had to fight to keep our victories,” senior Grace Herriage said. “We are motivated to continue achieving highly and to work hard in hopes of making our band sound and look the best it possibly can.”

Band also won every drum caption, the drumline and front ensemble in division 5A.

“Winning feels great,” junior Gavin Haddox said. “The best feeling in the world is hearing your name called during awards.”

According to Haddox, the band didn’t do much celebrating, but they woke up the next day and worked harder for their next competition.

“The competitions that have been performed so far have been amazing,” junior Kendal Kordis said. “They’ve worked super hard this year, and it’s been paying off. We have a more sophisticated show, but it’s the best show I’ve ever performed so far.”
