Big Wins for the Varsity Basketball Teams

The basketball season has started off strong, and now in the middle of the the season both the boys and girls basketball teams hope to continue finding success. After 26 games, the varsity girls team is 18-8 on the season, and after 19 games, the boys varsity team is 6-13. The most recent game for both teams was against Abilene Wylie Jan. 11.

 

The boys team started off strong in the first two periods outscoring Wylie 25-17. During the next two periods, Wylie led a comeback that was able to tie the game and send it into overtime. In the first overtime, there was only one score for each team as they both made a three point shot, but in the second overtime the boys team was able to outscore Wylie 9-7 to win the game 62-60.

 

The girls started strong like the boys team, outscoring Wylie 18-12 in the first period, but they  started to slow down in the second period getting outscored 18-7. At half time, the girls team were losing 30-25, but came back in the third period scoring 26 while Wylie was only able to score 13. In the final period, Wylie mounted a small comeback, outscoring Aledo 13-8, but it wasn’t enough to get the win as the ladycats won 59-56.

 

The boys and girls teams will both play Wichita Falls Rider at their next games; both of the games will be on Jan. 18 and will be at home.
