MOVING ON! The Who Writing New Music, Touring

The Who was one of the most influential bands of the 60s and 70s, making hit albums like “Who’s Next,” “Tommy,” and “Quadrophenia.” Now The Who has declared they will make a studio album of original songs and will be going on a North American tour later this year.

Originally, The Who was going to disband in the late 70s after their drummer Keith Moon died, but came back and made two more albums in the 80s. They finally disbanded after their bass player John Entwistle died in 2002, but they have reformed and made one other album since then.

Now in 2019, the guitar player Pete Townshend and lead vocalist Roger Daltrey will reunite to write a new album. Pete Townshend has said in interviews for fans to expect darker ballads, heavy rock, experimental tracks and more. As of now, no tracks or a title for the album have been released.

The tour name has been announced as MOVING ON! It will feature 29 dates around North America. They will also be playing with an orchestra at all the shows.

In a recent interview, Roger Daltrey has stated that this might be his last tour, as he wants to preserve his voice in his old age, and Pete Townshend has stated he would only do the tour if they would have new material to play on it.

The last album that The Who made was called “Endless Wire” and was released in 2006. The album was 52 minutes long and debuted at number seven on the billboard chart. Now 13 years later, Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey will hope to replicate its success with their newest album.

For those in the DFW area who would like to see The Who live, they will be in Dallas performing at the American Airlines Center supporting their new album on Sept. 27.
