Drill Team Directors Resign
Drill team director Mrs. Lowe resigned Feb. 16. Assistant director Ms. Hoffman resigned soon after due to not being able to lead the drill team on her own and not officially being a part of the Aledo School District. As of right now, the drill team won’t be holding practices or going to competition, but that is prone to change.
“The drill team may or may not continue,” Principal Dan Peterson said. “We don’t know anything for certain yet. Being a sponsor is a huge commitment, and once we find one, the team may go back to practicing.”
The Bearcadets had gone to competition at Tyler in early February and brought back two superior ratings and two choreography awards. The girls haven’t been to competition since, but are hopeful that they can go again in the future and grow in their ranks.
“I want it to continue because I want us to have a big team in the end. Getting back together with the team would be really fun,” sophomore Grayson Keenum said.
Mrs. Lowe wishes the best for the Bearcadets and hopes they will continue to be an organization in Aledo in the future.
“I loved being one of the directors, working with the girls, and I hope the district continues the program,” she said.
