Red Ribbon Week Update

Students and teachers are bringing awareness to Red Ribbon Week by dressing up. Red Ribbon Week is a national occasion whose purpose is to encourage students to stay away from dangerous drugs in an effort to educate students on the dangers that come with drug usage. The first annual Red Ribbon Week was in 1988, and it has continued in schools throughout the nation ever since.

Each school in the district is hosting dress-up days in honor of Red Ribbon Week. The dress-up days at the high school are: on Monday, REDdy to say no to drugs (participants wear red); on Tuesday, your future is BRIGHT without drugs (participants wear neon); on Wednesday, team up against drugs (participants wear jerseys); on Thursday, Rock and Roll away from drugs (participants dress like rock stars); and on Friday, Lei off drugs and travel drug free (participants wear Hawaiian/tourist attire).

In addition to the dress-up days, decorations are placed around the school to bring awareness to the importance of the week.
