Senior traditions are something every student looks forward to going into their senior year, from senior sunrise to prom, students have many opportunities to make their last year in high school memorable. Now it’s time for the class of 2025 to have their turn to participate in senior assassin.
Senior assassin is a competition where students are assigned a target and must eliminate by spraying them with a water gun. Students are only safe when they are at school, work, church, or participating in a sport. Parking lots of these establishments though are free game, but players are safe if they wear either goggles or pool floats. The game will go on until there is one person standing, and the lucky winner will receive a cash prize.
Senior Madison Salaverry is the one behind the scenes of making this game happen.
“Im glad I am able to organize something like this,” Salaverry said. “I found it important to ensure that the class of 2025 have a memorable last semester.”
Excitement filled the hallways on the starting day of the event and students eagerly waited to find out who their next target will be. Senior Aubrey Morin shared that the pressure and paranoia of the game is more than she expected.
“At first I thought this challenge was going to be lighthearted and something to fill my time with,” Morin said. “But as the game went on I’m always on high alert, constantly checking over my shoulder checking to see if anyones watching me.”
Paranoia, determination and excitement are at the sole emotions that come with this challenge. With high stakes of about a thousand dollars on the line, players are willing to do whatever it takes to secure the victory. Senior Brennon Evans expressed the heights he’d take to win it all.
“I showed up to my targets house at the crack of dawn just for her to be wearing her goggles while she sleeps,” Evan said. “Eventually I hunted her down at a Target all the way in Fort Worth, I’m willing to stalk and attack all of my future targets just to win.”
