Inspired by Nirvana’s early work, The Melvins and his passion for music in general, junior Rhett Wilkerson has taken the initiative to form a band. 

The band, “Living Dead” consists of himself and his brother, Cayson Dillard. They are in search of a bass player, but have a few auditions lined up.

Wilkerson is the lead guitarist and vocals, while Dillard is on drums. 

“Me and him have been playing for years,” Wilkerson said. “We hadn’t thought of the name until three, four months ago.”

He said that inspiration randomly struck and he had thought the name was a cool idea. Wilkerson said he has distanced himself from his old music.

“The old band name was kind of embarrassing,” Wilkerson said. “The music wasn’t awful, just really dumb.”

The sound of “Living Dead” leans toward genres like punk and sludge metal. 

“Living Dead” doesn’t have any music out just yet.

“We are planning to record a demo to release everywhere,” Wilkerson said. “So hopefully that will change soon.”
