The wrestling team made their debut in the fall, and have been working since then to be successful during their first season.They recently competed in their district matches on Feb. 4 and 5, and many of the wrestlers will move on to regionals. 

“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to move on to regionals. As a first year program, we knew that we would have to work our tails off in order to have success. Being able to send a handful onto regionals shows that all of that hard work paid off,” senior Cole Bohnen said. 

Chad Thomas, Austin Conner, Cole Bohnen, Daniel Bunting, Elizabeth McCarley, and first ever district champ Ansel Din-Mbuh advanced to the regional tournament in El Paso on Feb. 11-12. 

“I have all the girls and my captains to thank for the constant motivation and constant drilling. They always pushed for you to do your best no matter the chances,” senior Elizabeth McCarley said. 

All six representatives competed on the first day, while Austin Conner and Ansel Din-Mbuh advanced to the semi finals on the second day. 

Din-Mbuh won third place and will compete at the state tournament on Feb. 18 and 19.
