UIL Journalism Team Wins First at District Meet

The UIL journalism team competed in the district meet on Saturday, March 29. Olivia Caggiano, James Ward, Lydia Wood and Cassidy Cole all placed and gained Aledo another UIL win. 

The Aledo UIL Academic team won first place overall as well. 

Freshman Cat’s Eye staff member, Cassidy Cole, competed for the first time, placing sixth in editorial writing. 

Senior editor, Lydia Wood, placed fourth in copy editing and news, third in headline writing and second in editorial writing. 

Senior staff member, James Ward, placed second in news and feature writing and sixth in headline writing. 

Senior copy editor, Olivia Caggiano, placed first in all five events: news, feature, editorial, copy editing, and headline writing. 

The team will compete in regionals at Saginaw High School on April 16-17.
