Bearcat Dance Team Makes Debut

The new Bearcat Dance Team performed Aug. 30 at the first pep rally. The theme for the pep rally was Howdy and the team coordinated their outfits to match. After their performance,  the varsity football players started the “Encore” chant, a chant normally reserved for the drumline. The dance team performed again at halftime of last Friday’s football season opener vs. Denton Guyer.  Click here to view a video clip from the game on Aledo ISD’s Twitter account.

Each week, the members on the team have to try out with the new dance to perform at the pep rally and the game, so the number of people could vary, yet the team offers something new for students interested in dance.

“In the dance team I can make friends that I wouldn’t usually have, and I get to do what I love at school which makes my day a lot more uplifting,” sophomore Victoria Jordan said.

The new team is led by Director Emily Robison. This is her first year in Aledo and her seventh year as a Dance Instructor. Squad Leaders are sophomores Anna Yates, Emma Marchlinski, Ashley Garrett and senior Kylie Belt.

“My favorite thing about the dance team is performing at pep rallies and being able to dance and hang out with the other girls,” Yates said.
