Bearcats Three-Peat in State

On Jan. 15, the Bearcats beat Crosby High School 56-21 to win state for the third year in a row. 

 

The Bearcats came into the playoffs with a 7-1 record overall and beat Hillcrest 77-13 in the bi-district game. In the area game the Bearcats took on North Forney and won 49-24. At the regional game the Bearcats faced off against Frisco and won 45-27. In the quarter-finals The Bearcats beat Lovejoy 52-48. In the semifinals the Bearcats won against Wichita Falls Rider 55-28.

 

At the end of the first quarter of the state championship game both teams were even at 14-14. Once the second quarter began, the Bearcats started scoring and held Crosby scoreless. At the end of the second quarter the Bearcats took a 35-14 lead over Crosby. In the second half of the game the Bearcats began running out the clock and won with a score of 56-21. 

 

The Bearcats now have a record 10 state championships in 11 man football.
