As the spring semester got started, students in the theater department prepared tirelessly for Grease: The Musical, which ran through Jan. 17–19.
Rehearsals took place every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday after school from the start of October up until opening night, and everyone involved said they were excited to tackle this theater classic.
“Grease is just fun,” theater director Reed Chappell said. “Grease is just a fun night out and it’s enjoyable as it’s about high school kids and the things they go through, coming together, finding a good group of friends, and enjoying this experience with other people.”
Students spent hours singing vocals and staging and with a big cast list, students made sure it was a hit.
“My favorite parts about grease is that it’s just big,” senior Mason Steele said. “This is the biggest production I think Aledo has ever done. There were like 70 people in it. It was crazy insane, but it was such a blast the entire time, just how big, fun, and high-energy all of it was. I think that was probably my favorite part.”
One of the principal actors in show said it was like a dream come true.
“I sobbed because this is my dream role,” senior Lulu Warren said. “This has been one role I’ve always wanted to play and I’m finally getting to play it. I was sobbing. I was a mess. I was excited.”
The Aledo Players sold out the auditorium on multiple nights, surpassing previous expectations and revving up students for the upcoming UIL One Act season. The theater’s One Act plays will perform later in the spring.
