Riding off the success of the historic 2023-2024 the boys basketball season, the current basketball team hasn’t skipped a beat. The team is currently sitting at 14-1 on the year, and are ranked 21st in 5A Texas. From the coach’s to the players, every role have equally contributed to their recent success.
Junior Cade Cunningham said he feels that the new and improved fast style of play has tremendously helped kickstart the success of their season.
“I would say the fast style of play that we use, and I think that is why we are successful because we press and get in transition fast which speeds us the other,” Cunningham said.
Like Cunningham, junior Crew Bates said he feels like being able to see the teams strengths and weakness over the summer has really helped them become better as a team.
“We all came together as a team and out in a lot of extra work over the summer to get where we are now which other teams haven’t done in the past,” Bates said.
That time put in during the summer is what junior Dylan Pipkins said has really leveled up their play as a team. =
“I would say the way that the team came together over the summer and the coach really pushed us to come together,” junior Dylan Pipkins
Having a new coaching staff helps a lot, too. Bates also said that he feels like the coaching staff has also made a big impact.
“Being able to know the strengths and weaknesses of the other team by getting great scouting reports and film from our coaches,” Bates said.
