The arts are more than just an elective at Bearcat Nation—they’re a pathway to creativity, critical thinking, and future careers. Students here are using their talents to make an impact in the classroom and beyond.
From drawing and painting to digital design, the art program offers students a chance to explore their passions while building valuable skills. Art student junior Jordyn Sorrell said this program is just as much fun as it is up-lifting.
“Art is really creative based and allows you to open your imagination, and it’s something great to have throughout the years. Sometimes you might be doing like for one pagers, you have to do art. It’s just a fun thing to learn throughout high school, and it helps you expand your creative mind and think outside the box.”
While students can use their own resources, some still struggle to afford basic materials. According to Sorrell, access to essential supplies could make a significant difference in fostering creativity in the classroom.
“I feel like it’s more just like providing more supplies, because not a lot of people are financially supported. So people who can’t afford supplies, it would be really great if the school could provide at least maybe some sketchbooks, colored pencils or markers and paints at least, or better than paint brushes.”
With growing support and recognition, the art program continues to inspire students and prepare them for success in whatever path they choose.
