To prepare for the varsity football game against Azle High School Hornets, Friday, Nov. 1, the Bearcat Regiment members rehearse their marching show to set the tone for Friday Night Lights.
“Having the band makes the games more interesting,” former band member junior Bobby Preston said. “It makes the people get excited for the games.”
Along with the fans in the stands, other students are directly impacted by the music from the band every game, including dance members.
“We dance to their music at halftime,” varsity dance member Caroline Howard said. “If it was just a speaker playing the music, it wouldn’t be as impactful.”
With football season a staple for students, band members said they feel the band plays a crucial role in the atmosphere of each game.
“The music allows the games to feel more energetic when we’re playing,” band member junior Elijah Silver said. “Not having a band would make it less exciting, and we wouldn’t hype up the crowd as much.”
