With a 4-1 record for the 24-25 season, the Bearcat’s varsity football team are set to take on Denton Ryan Friday Friday, Oct. 4, at Tim Buchanan Stadium.
While the Bearcats have a 3-0 record for the district season, players said they are putting in the work to make it back to state to take the title home.
Varsity defensive coordinator Brad McCone said the football team is getting ready and training against the Denton Ryan Raiders.
“We have been making fewer mistakes and we’re communicating better,” McCone said. “We’re getting better each game.”
Junior defensive end Carson Dempsey shares a similar mindset on the work the players need to put in for this upcoming game.
“It starts with having practice,” Dempsey said. “How you practice is how you play, so you can practice hard, practice good, and give them a hard time.”
With players like Denton Ryan’s Tre’vaugh Reynolds with explosive runs, it is critical for the defense to remain vigilant and ready, running back grade Raycine Guillory said.
“At the end of the day, the best team gonna come out with the W,” Guillory said.
