Press Conference to be Held for Varsity Choir
A press conference will be held for the Varsity Women’s Choir Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The choir will perform and inform the attendees of their trip to Indianapolis for the National Music for All Festival in March.
“I am excited to show everyone at the festival our [choir’s] hard work and dedication,” President and senior London Kasper said.
The National Music for All Festival is a non-profit whose goal is to “create, provide, and expand positively life-changing experiences through music for all.” It was founded in 1975 and hosts additional events and competitions for bands, marching bands and orchestras. Through these programs they have reached over 1.75 million students and their families. The band has attended the festival before, but this is the first year in the history of the festival that a choir and band from the same school have attended.
“I am really excited to meet new directors and a lot learn new techniques that will make me a better singer,” freshman Broghan Guffey said.
In order to attend the Music for All Festival, the choir had to send in recordings of their contest season last year. Only 12 choirs from across the nation were chosen to attend the Festival. There, they will attend clinics taught by clinicians from all across the United States and the world. In addition to the clinics, choirs will perform under many different conductors and with choirs from across the nation.
“I’m most excited about traveling out of state to perform,” Vice-President and senior Tala Jennings said. “It’s such a huge honor to be performing with the top choirs in the nation and showing everyone how much we have evolved and accomplished through the years.”
