Ladycats Win Over Canyon Randall to Advance in Playoffs

The girl’s basketball team travelled to Vernon High School to play Canyon Randall in the Bi-District round of the playoffs.

 

The game began as a low scoring affair, but the Ladycats had the better offense and ending up leading 9-6 at the end of the first quarter. The Ladycats maintained their strong offense and extended their lead to 20-14 by halftime. In the third quarter, Aledo turned to defense and held Canyon Randall to only nine points while still being able to score 14. They took a 34-23 lead going into the fourth quarter. Canyon Randall came alive in the fourth quarter, scoring ten points and cutting Aledo’s lead to 36-33. The Ladycats quickly came back and put the game away with a run of thirteen points while only allowing Canyon Randall to score seven points, to finish the game. The final score was 49-40.

 

The girls team will now be heading to the Area game to play against El Paso Burges. El Paso Burges has a record of 24-7 and placed second in district.
