FFA Collection to Benefit Texas Phythian Home

Aledo FFA is collecting items to donate to the Texas Pythian Home until Oct. 26.

“People should donate to the Pythian home because, there are many kids that are just like us who do not have the same opportunities and blessings in life like we do.” FFA Historian Gabby Shultz said. “There is so much you can do to change the world and make the world you live in better, but just a simple act of kindness and donating to the children at the Pythian home can change a life.”

The front offices in both the Ninth Grade Center and the High School have the full list of items the Pythian Home needs. If everyone brings just one item off of the list.

“The Pythian home helps others less fortunate than ourselves,” FFA Treasurer Morgan Boyd added.

The Texas Pythian Home, sometimes referred to as the “Castle on the Hill,” takes in children from ages 3 to 14 who have a tough environment. The children live in dorms on the 164 acres the home is located on and attend Weatherford schools and churches. The goal of the Pythian Home is to provide the children with a safe, stable environment, educational opportunities and positive life experiences. The home includes a swimming pool, tennis and volleyball courts, a softball field, and playgrounds for the children to play with. In addition, the children living there are involved in many extracurricular activities, such as band, soccer, football, scouts and more.

Any and all donations are appreciated by FFA. Students are able to bring all items to the front office. Donations will stop being collected on Oct. 26.
